I grew up in Colonial Heights, graduated from VT, and have always needed a pet in my life. Ironically it was a malnourished kitten that brought me to dog training and the wonderful All Dog Family. I was angered by how mistreated she and her mother had been, and that I was having to put her down at just 6 months due to an irresponsible /unknowledgeable ‘caregiver’. That night sitting in the vet’s office I realized my dream career…”I want to make a difference in the lives of animals”. Then I found Animal Behavior College! The program lead me to an internship with Miss Katherine Smith. I’m not sure what she saw in me, but in her words, she ‘bragged’ about me to Cindy Briggs, who also saw something, and asked if I would like to join the group of trainers….YES! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was ecstatic. I'm very thankful to them! I’ve now been teaching Flextime Obedience classes for almost 2 years.
In addition, ADA has given me opportunity to expand my knowledge in so many areas of dog training and care. I’m the All Dog Swim Team coach on Friday afternoons. It is so much fun and great exercise for the dogs, and me! I’m also happy to be the welcoming face to newcomers, as I lead the Flextime orientation. Currently I am exploring the world of Doga (yoga with dogs) to add to the All Dog adventure.
My magnificent mutt, Rex, and I are in Rally, and you may see us in Agility at some point!
